The 140th Open, who's your winner?

Posted by: user20126 [FORUM MODERATOR] | Wed 13th Jul 2011 09:24 | Last Reply

So the 140th Open is with us tomorrow and I cannot wait.

Who do you think will be picking up the trophy on Sunday evening?

And what is it about your choice that gives him the edge?

Russ

Lee Westwood, he's been so consistent in the last 7 or 8 majors he has to win one sooner or later, the one thing you need at the British Open more so than the other majors is a bit of luck, as you get a lot of dodgy bounces on links courses, making it harder to control your shots, especially on your driving.

I'd love to see Westwood finally lift a major, and The Open as his first would be special! I have however, had a bit of money this year on Matt Kuchar and he must be knocking on the door of a win sooner or later....my opocket certianly hopes so!

My long shot is Steve Marino. Playing well this year and this would be one hell of a first (and overdue) senior win. Not the tidyest player, but has a nack of getting it round in low scores and not afraid of texas wedging/bump n run.

Safer bet is Matt Kuchar. Flat swinging ball flighter who had an excellent preparation with a good showing in Inverness. He's got the game and temperament to do well.

I'd like to see Poulter finally come through though and win the biggy.

Have had a couple of small ew bets. Rose, Ferrie, shnediker, and bjorn so holding my breath for thomas to keep it going.

Dave CAC handed Geordie.

Well, nobody predicted the winner of the 140th Open Championship.

Matt was the nearest with "Somebody from Europe"!

I wonder what the odds were on Darren winning?
