Golf Open Transport

Posted by: user403160 | Wed 6th Jul 2011 12:51 | Last Reply

Hey,

I work for a radio station in Kent and just had an advertiser do a couple of weeks with us leading up to the open in Sandwich.

They are offering Helicopter transfers into the course from their base in Manston.

If you have been to the open there before you'll know how bad the roads get round the area - so the £198 they are charging for return flights with breakfast and all day parking at their secure site is pretty good value for money.

Obviously it's not for everyone, but is worth checking if you are in the market for it.

Their number is 01843 825222 - quote heart radio to get the best price.

Thanks for reading!

The train is also a good option with Sandwich station about 1.5 miles away from the course.

I believe they have a fast link during Open week which takes 45 minutes from London St Pancras and I would imagine they have some sort of shuttle service if you don't fancy walking the 1.5 miles to the course.

The R&A allowing helicopter traffic in and out of the course during play? Bubba will have more concerns then.

Michael,

A lot of the people who will visit The Open this year will actually stay in France. How they travel to Sandwich can be by air or sea. You may see Mickleson's, Norman's and others jets parked at Manston for the duration.

One guy actually stayed on his jet during one Tournament. Gone are the days when a Pro Golfer had a Cessna, today they have 707's etc.
