Swing Speed

Posted by: user298481 | Sat 25th Jun 2011 01:21 | Last Reply

Following the video that Ivan linked to, i was wondering how many of us have actually had our swing speed measured recently, and whether that is linked directly to handicap, and not just distance.

For the record, I am a touch over 100mph  with an iron, and 115-ish with Driver.

I used to do the same and lash irons and driver but have really slowed down with my irons. Scoring has come down average 4/5 shots a round. Driver however I still go after and have had swings recorded just over 120 mph. Probs about 115 on the course.

Not particularly interested in my swing speed (or club head speed which is much more relevant) but when I bought my hybrid I had a bit of a play with the launch monitor and mine was between 85 to 88 mph.  Since having some lessons I've been concentrating on ryhthm rather than speed (using the Cote-Laurence technique) and it's probably a few mph slower now.  My accuracy has increased noticeably since and although I can't hit the ball the distances most people appear to be able to it's long enough for me.

That's the one Ivan.  Mind you, the leotard doesn't half pinch...
