Anyone watching PowerPlay Golf ?

Im watching it online but with no sound as some friends turned up.

Dont fully understand - What are the powerplays about??

basically extra points, points mean prizes

Basically it's stableford. 1 pt bogey, 2 pts par, 3 pts birdie, 4 pts eagle ...

Its a 9 hole comp and each player has to take 3 powerplays in the first 8 holes and its there choice when these are taken. On a powerplay all points are doubled. But on the 9th hole there is a optional powerplay. But you can also loose points on this hole.The winner is the player with the most points.

The girls showed the boys how it was done yesterday. Looks like Poulter had fun with the 2 ladies.

I watched some of it today and I can't say I was blown away with the excitement.  I don't mean it was boring, it seemed a bit confusing.  I suppose that with time it may become a better spectacle, it just hasn't got there yet.  I reckon that the organisers have probably missed a trick though, they should do an indoor version - just imagine 180 yard par 3's under lights (and a roof) in the Millenium Stadium...  

Must admit that as a spectacle it was something different but just like the cricket version it is just another gimmick to get TV coverage. Lets leave the game as it is and all continue to fight the fight against the course on a week by week basis. Why do we need extra excitment when you can watch the pro's at the BMW at Wentwoth this year or the Ryder Cup and all the other majors.

I've posted this elsewhere already but not a bad 9 hole 2 hour round for Hedwall winning £100k after only winning £45k in the Slovak Open.

She donated 50% of the PowerPlay prize to her golf federation and great to see the others raising a combined figure in excess of £150k
