Hybird off a tee

Posted by: user382349 | Thu 19th May 2011 21:46 | Last Reply

I have only started to play golf this year.

Cant hit a driver or woods, had lessons and it didnt help.

Had a swing of a hybrid the other day and felt nice, can you hit thse 'trouble' clubs off the tees ?

Thanks

you can hit whatever club you like off the tee as long as it gives you the result you are after!

Of course you can... as long as it starts in your bag and gets the ball closer to the hole then swing away!

You would not have any qualms about taking a 9-iron off a par 3, so why not a hybred off a longer hole.

Let's face it, a 450yard par 5 hole can be reached in regulation with 3 medium 7-irons (which would be the sensible approach) but we all swing the heck out of a big stick to various degrees of failure (rather than sucess) - basically, if you are more comfortable with a particular club then use it

Ive got a couple of Ram Wizard 18 deg & 21 deg. Pretty good value. I would normally use them on a short par 4 to leave a wedge in to the green. Good for 150- 200yd.

The higher the loft the easier to use. If you can only afford one then go for the 21 deg then when your used to it go for the 18 deg for a bit more length. Theres an 18 deg on ebay finishes at 11 pm going for a fiver plus PP. So as you can see they are not too dear.140548180904

The Callaway diablo edge is great. I have 21 and 24 degrees and find them easy to hit with good distance. http://www.americangolf.co.uk/product/Callaway-Golf-Diablo-Edge-Mens-Hybrid/p52933.aspx

Have a look on Direct Golf.  They are the only supplier of Adams and John Letters golf gear, both of which do great hybrids in fact the Adams hybrids are one of the most popular on tour.

Got to back this up I've got an older model of the superstrong and have to say it's very straight and easy to hit. I can get around 200 yds out of it on a good dry day and I'm no big hitter.

I have been using the John Letters # 4 Hybrid and its feels nice to use, though I havent used it off the tee, and have bought the Taylormade Burner superfast 2.0 # 3 this week and have noticed a massive difference in feel and confidence. Both are good clubs but I think I will be upgrading to the taylormades from now on..
