Top 100 courses
Does anybody else have issues with many of the courses in the top 100 on this site ?
Does it show just how subjective course reviews are ? or is there more to it ?
With no disrespect intended, i have never played a public courses that comes close in lay out or upkeep to many members / guests only clubs.
This is obviously understantable due to the costs involved, but many of the top 100 appear to good public courses put there at the expense of great members clubs.
Is it because we play more public courses than private on this site that they feature more heavily ?
Any courses you feel definately dont deserve their place ?
For me the RAC in Epsom is one that should never have made the list !

Tim, I know a couple of very good public courses, both in London, that are always in excellent condition.
I agree that the RAC is not a top100 course but I thought the course was very nice when I had the opportunity to play it many moons ago.
The problem with top 100 on a site like golfshake is that very few players get the chance to play on the now very private clubs that would dominate this list. and having seen the way the new breed dress and conduct themselves on a golf course I am quite sure that the private clubs are pleased that so many new courses have been built for the pay and play market.

hi John
even though weekends are difficult for me, i really will try to arrange a game with you soon.
It will be really good to put a face to someone who contributes so much to this site.
Where is your home course ?

Hi Tim, you seem to have got it all mixed up, I do NOT play at week-ends, only weekdays.
My club is Caversham Heath Golf club, which is just north of Reading.
This course suits the better player because of its length and demanding greens.
Hope you can make it.

Yes Tim they are subjective and based on how people play and obviously different people with different opionions are reviewing all the courses.
Think we discussed it before but what a great job it would be for someone to go round and review every course!
