Looking for a course/hotel in Midlands

Posted by: user266930 | Wed 4th May 2011 09:40 | Last Reply

Morning all

I'm planning a golf weekend for my brother & Dad later this year. The old man is 80 this year so we'd like somewhere nice & as we are spread about the country looking in Midlands area. Ideally looking for somewhere with a hotel either on course or very close, a good quality course but not too long. We've done a couple of the Q Hotels courses which were good.

any recommendations please?

thanks

Phil

There are 3, very close together, in Derbyshire.  Breadsall Priory (2 different courses - both good).  Morley Hayes (one and a half courses (the 9 hole course is one of the best you'll  play) but probably the better hotel and food) and Horsley Lodge (one course but probably better than the other two, though is likely to be the most expensive).

All have web sites.

Phill,

Give the Welcombe a look, cracking course & very nice hotel.

Just a few ideas..

Telford has a Q hotel and the course is OK.

Hawkstone has a hotel on-site.  I have stayed there once and the course is good, maybe a bit long for you?

Bransford is a nice course, near Worcester - lots of water.  It has a hotel on site, but can't vouch for it.

Patshull Park near Wolverhampton is a great course, they have rooms also.  Looks nice!

Alternatively, for an on-course self-catering chalet...Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club.
