No return score

Posted by: user8 [FORUM MODERATOR] | Sun 17th Jul 2005 20:37 | Last Reply

I have just set up my first society competition and are just about to enter the scorecards.

I have come across the following situation :

A number of players had a no return stroke score on a hole and therefore returned 0 points. When this card is used for handicap tracking what score do I enter on the card ?

CONGU treats anything more than a double bogey as a double bogey for handicapping, but a double bogey may score 1 or maybe 2 points under the stableford points scoring system, thus changing the stableford points awarded for that hole.

Please advise as to the course of action.

Hi.

Someone else asked me about this for blobs. Maybe it's something I need to add, I've always and recommended putting down 10. This will have no effect on handicap or stableford points.

If you have any other ideas or suggestions let me know.

Darren.

Every golf club that I have been a member of has only ever adjusted ones handicap on competition scores from the back tees. The only true test IMO.

Golf is full of people who like to masquerade under a high handicap so that they feel it gives them a chance when they do enter a comp.

My experience tells me, that the lower ones handicap, the more concentrated is the mind in trying to achieve good results.

IMO general play is not a yardstick at all in determining handicap as the most important thing of all is not there - pressure.
