Handicap report

I am a bit confused...I have now input 3 rounds (although one 9 hole) I have also set my starting handicap for the season and then gone and recalculated it with todays date as reference point.
When I do this my handicap disappears!! Is this something I am doing wrong if so please tell me the order in which I should do it?
