1. Reach 13 handicap

2. Play a couple of the top 50 golf courses in UK (St Andrews would be brilliant)

Drop the handicap to 15 and play rounds in the high 80's

Join a club (golf variety)

Play in some more competitions

Be on the winning team in the Golfshake NvS

Have some money left at the end of the year

Practice my wedge game from 100yards in. I want to know my yardages with each wedge with a full, 3/4 & half swing.

Hopefully then I will give myself easier birdie putts or at least easy par putts!

I want to progress in the comps at my club this year to at least the semi finals.

Most of all I want to continue enjoying my golf

I would like to get my handicap down to 18 from 20.

Play at least once a week.

Learn how to use my 5 wood to gain more distance( I am hopelessly short on distance)

1- Knock 3-4 shots of my handicap.

2- Practice a lot more, as i generally don't bother and just play.

3- Try and play at least twice a week, which i should be able to do now, as i have not renewed my season ticket for West Ham.

4- And most of all like John F carry on enjoying my golf through the good and bad days...

5- to play the old holes at Nefyn on the peninsula...

Ideally 2011 will see me;

1. Practice my short-game a lot.

2. Also stop self-destructing on 2 or 3 holes.

3. Regularly achieve rounds in the mid to low nineties at my local course (par 73 on whites).

4. Achieve a club handicap of 18.

MarkYou will do fine on the Gtour. I played a few last year and they are great events. The last event I played it I couldn't hit a barn door from 10 paces.

1. End the year with the same clubs I started with

2. Brake in to single figures for the first time.

3. Improve my poor bunker play.

4. Enjoy the game more than worry about any of the above.

* I'm allowed a "squad" of clubs winkhttp://www.golfshake.com/scripts/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/wink_smile.gif" title="wink" />
** Anything under 10 will do.
*** Required in order to achieve #2!

1. Try to make 30% of my rounds under 80 shots.

2. Considering the prizes on offer on the G-Tour this year, it could be time to play on it.

3. Organize more charity games at decent venues.

4. Coach my son to a 24 handicap and get him to play in my club's junior club championship.

Paul, liking 2 and 3.  I might follow you on 1 but with 30% under 90

Chris, will 9.9 count ?

Scratch!  I would take 15 but breaking 85 in a saturday medal is a big ask.

I haven't previously set particular goals for the year, but, having achieved my first level par round during 2010, I think it's time to start ..... so:-

Break 70 on my home course (my level par round was a 71 as we reduced the length of the 1st hole for a 3 month trial period during the summer).

Get my handicap down to 8 - could be a big ask, as I am really not long enough off the tee, and age is definitely catching up with me.

I'd like to enter a few Golfshake events, but as Secretary of my Club, they always seem to clash with something I have to attend. e.g. the Algarve break is when our AGM is held.  In this case -  I am going to test out the courses for you next week as I'm off to Alvor on Monday, and staying at Dom Joao.  Unfortunately, I am told that Gramacho is closed (in preparation for a competition I believe), but  Pinta is the course I'm most likely to play under handicap anyway, so we'll play Silves twice and Pinta three times!

Hope everyone has a great 2011.

In descending degrees of reality :

1. Shoot sub 80

2. Get handicap down to 10

3. Win more than one TGA competition

4. Marry Graeme McDowell hearthttp://www.golfshake.com/scripts/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/heart.gif" title="heart" width="20" />

Below are Karl Morris' top 5 Resolution Boosters

  • Make your goals SHORT term and I mean SHORT term. i.e. what are you going to do THIS WEEK, TODAY?  It is OK to have a DIRECTION like scratch golf or the European Tour but our brain needs lots of LITTLE VICTORIES.  We need a clear focus on where we are going but a total ABSORPTION in what we are doing NOW
  • Let others know. Tell others what you INTEND to do. When you involve others, you make what is known as an ACTIVE commitment which is a very POWERFUL tool to employ.  We may talk ourselves out of doing something but we DO NOT like to let others down and, more importantly, we do not like to be seen to be less of a person in another's eyes
  • Look at your CONTEXT.  Your daily environment.  This may be THE single most important factor in your success or lack thereof.  Is your environment supportive? Do the people who  surround you REALLY help YOU towards your goals??
  • It is not what you think, it is what you do.  You can 'think differently' as much as you like.  You can be a great ideas man (I have met loads of them!!) but it is your actions that change the way you feel and the structure of your world.  Have less ideas and more implementation
  • Have a way of measuring your progress.  It is OK to say you want to have a better short game but how do you KNOW is getting better?  Yes, you can look back on your up and down stats but you need to know that you are getting better in practice.  The only real way is through statistics.  Your practice should have a whole host of personal bests which focus and challenge you each time you go and work on your game.

    1.  Get my handicap back down to 16 - 17.

    2.  Break 80.  80 was my best round last year.

    3.  Record an eagle.  Been close but never done it.

    My goals for 2011

1, get my h/cap down to single figures

2, play more consistant golf (slowly getting there, also needed to achieve no.1)

3, not to drink with dave ley

    4, dont move any leaves from bunkers winkhttp://www.golfshake.com/scripts/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/wink_smile.gif" title="wink" width="20" />

    5, just enjoy the golf

I only really have 3 goals (and 2 of them are linked)

    1) Knock 6 shots off my handicap

    2) Improve my mental game and not get frustrated if a shot doesnt go right

    3) Improve course management slightly. Chip out of danger rather than trying to hit a 7 iron out of thick rough and screw it right up!

After numerous runners-up placings on the TGA Tour, my 1st win would be nice.

Also like to average 1 round per week.

    Get my handicap under 15.

Stop buying new equipment in the hope that it will improve my golf winkhttp://www.golfshake.com/scripts/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/wink_smile.gif" title="wink" />. It doesn't but it does empty my wallet.
