Finally Decided On Driver
Spent the last few month deliberating over what driver (or maybe 3 wood) to buy to complete my set up for the next couple of years.
I have hunted the net, discussed with golfers and generally counted drivers instead of sheep to sent me to sleep until now I have found what I wanted.
It needed to have a 380cc to 400cc head as never felt comfortable swinging a wock, preferably with golfpride grip and decent shaft - at a knock down price.
Result I take delivery tommorrow of my new Wilson Staff driver with 385cc head, golfpride grip and nano prolight regular shaft - reduced from £199.99 to £29.99.
Fairways beware - and not just the one I am aiming at...

Does a bigger head ie 400cc+ not always mean greater distance ?

So what do the pros use then on average ?

Always wondered why I good hit my Callaway Big Bertha 360ccish further than my cheapstick 450cc

Then of course there is also loft to consider - 10.5 degrees is more forgiving but say 7 degrees would go further (in the right hands - which aint mine)

Cheers David,
Didn't realise that. I thought the higher the loft the less distance but more forgiving due to spin..

We all hit the ball different hights and distances,so a 10.5 degree for you may be the same flight as a 9 degree in someone elses hands.I think it's all about matching up distance and flight to get the longest/best.

She arrived yesterday, a little tired and felt "boxed in" during the journey but seems happy to be here.
Left her this morning to get settled in properly so she is fully recovered for Sunday.
She will be making her first appearance on the third tee after watching what the 18* recovery does on the first two tee's.
Roll on Sunday....

By the second tee she'll be chomping at the headcover to get out, will your beloved 7 wood understand, and share, your affection?

That's the good thing with head covers - they can't see what i am up to...

Well, I took my new driver out for it's first game and was very impressed. There are a couple of teething problems but it went 250 yards with ease when hit right..
The usual which tee, ball position etc needs tweaking but once done I guess it's a winner.
I was right about the rain at 1435hrs. Shame it rained at 1030 hrs, 1200hrs, and hail stoned in freezing cold winds. We were all soaked but like true warriors we battled on.
We finished with glorious sunshine which dried us all out....amazing weather...
Tony, can't quite remember but was it raining when I hit my BIRDIE..

Ah the birdie,i did wonder how long it would take before it got a mention, yes i believe there were freak weather conditions all around that green, which was obviously affecting some golf ball's.
Great approach shot,and a great put mate,well done,and many more to follow,cheers.
