If the maximum handicap for men is 28 then why does Golfshake award handicaps higher than this?

Junior and lady golfers can have handicaps higher than 28.

Yes I know they can but my question was about men. They can have an official maximum handicap of 28 but on Golfshake they can have a handicap of 36. I just wondered why.

I Beth we are an online community based site so whilst we provide the standards, UK based, ie max 28 and 36 for men and women respectively we also provide:
- 36 - beginners (at the request of several societies
- 54 - Juniors
- 54 - registered blind
also worth noting the above is based on UK and some European countries allow handicaps a lot higher and the US go above 30
