Whats in Store For You
My Benross 3V 7 wood is sitting nervously in the bag today in anticipation of it's first competition outing tomorrow..
The venue is Houghton le Spring for our monthly Society competition. I have never played this course but that is scant consolation for the above little babba. My hope is that she gets an early opportunity to fire off a shot which, rattles the fairway some 170 yards away, before returning to the bag to enjoy the day..
Accompanying her will be an Adams tight lies 10.5* driver which is only just returning to the squad after a long lay off.
The bag captain "Oddysey putter" remains optomistic that he can lead the team to victory with his new found form but, with so many good players in the field we will see.
So what are you guy's and gal's up to this weekend..?........

Out to play today, on an old course I havent played in ages, High Elms, Downe, Kent. It was the scene of my best ever round an 80. That must be some 8 or 9 years ago now. Its a scenic council run course, which is part of the reason I stopped playing, as it was so badly maintained and wasn't enjoying playing it. But I thought I'd give it another try, see if its improved any.
I'll be relying on a solid backbone to my squad. My driver, my seven Iron, and my putter. Im on the market for some flair players, a couple of wide players maybe a wedge or two.

Society comp at Breedon on Sat, first airing for the new Big Ben C455 5 wood. Never played the course before so don't know if it'll get an outing. Can't decide whether to take 'old faithful', my Ram 5 wood with me to accompany it's big brother 3 wood. They will both be retiring to the old clubs home (garage attic) with the rest of them next week as soon as my new 3 wood turns up anyway.

Just some happen to be in the same society day at Breedon Priory first run out for a good few weeks so will be interesting and a warm up for Wokefield Park.
Heard it's short so no worries about not using the drive and only playing the 3 iron.

After not thinking I was playing this weekend, the father in law just been on the phone "What time are we off then?"
Just tried to book my tee time tomorrow at my home club (The Shropshire), logged on and was shocked to find that the only tee times I could have were between 6.00am and 7.40am over three courses!! Then nothing till 1.30pm. So I am picking the father in law up at 6.30am to start at 7.32!!
Bloody cup final. Although it does give me time to get to the pub earlier for the final and maybe even get a seat!! Come on United!!
Here's hoping I play better than last weekend. The week before hit a 91 before our society cup and then go out at Keele and shoot my worst round of the year - a pathetic 110!!
Back to the comfortable home course tomorrow!!

Something like that David. Still if my performance on the range at lunchtime is anything to go by I'm best staying off the golf course.

Hi Adam
It wasn't too bad. The price has gone up to £20.50 a widweek round now. I must say it was worth it. I used to play there alot. I have some fond memories of it. As I said mybest ever round of 80. On the 4th hole I hit my best ever shot, 230 yds from the rough on the leftwith my 3 wood, to 6inches from the flag.
I've heard that too about Tony Jacklin. They can'tcomemuch harder than that hole, infact I think its a bad golf hole. I cant see how you couldever par that hole. Its 220 yards up hill, with 3 big bunkers gaurding the front. On top of that the green will not hold a well struck shot.
Scored 91 yesterday, the course was in good nick, the greens a bit slow.
Driver went well as did the putter, just not fining the greens. Apart from the 17th, a 330 yards par 4, that I found with one drive (a favourable bounce) but used that green to have my 1st 3 putt of the day. I know you should be happy with a par,but I was fuming.
Will definatley go again. See if I can ever break that 80,maybe one day.
