In what way do you view your club?

Posted by: user276830 | Sun 5th Sep 2010 17:33 | Last Reply

I see my Golf Club as simply a sports club. I play golf on the course and compete in the weekly comps and no more.

I still pay the social levy in the yearly fees, but I pass my drinks and restaurant vouchers on to other guys.

I try to be a s social as I can but I barely have the time for playing, never mind propping up the bar for hours afterward!

I know there are a few guys in the club like me but I also know there are a few guys who think I'm being antisocial and take a dim view.

What's your feelings on this aspect of GC membership?

I think a member should show full support for the club. If everyone turned up and played then left it would be a pretty miserable place. No club house required just a starters hut!

A golf club can only become a great club if its current membership supports it in every conceivable way, because in the end it will suffer from the apathy that members who think like Ray bring to the club, albeit unintentional but true nevertheless.
