Wives, Doctors & Golf.

Posted by: user202037 [FORUM MODERATOR] | Mon 23rd Aug 2010 21:39 | Last Reply

For two years now I have not played as much as I had for the previous 40. My knees have been bad and I have been unable to walk 18 holes.

About a month ago I began trying a new practice method. For years I have had a short back-swing and tried to lengthen it many times. I tried to drop the shaft on my shoulders and still hit the ball well. I was able to do this but it did give me an Ache across the chest. My wife returned home and found me sweating in the Kitchen and holding my Chest.

"Whats wrong?" she asked.

"I'm hot and have an ache , right across my chest" I would have, I'd just swung my Driver about 50 times in the garden, hoovered the Staircase and washed the Tops in the Kitchen.

I sat down in my chair, "Your seeing the Doctor in half an hour, get changed".

The Doctor then said that I needed tests and advised I visit A&E. I did and was kept in over-night with 'Tests' every couple of hours until I was told at 08.30 that there was nothing wrong and I could go home.

Tomorrow I visit the Clinic for a follow up.

I think it will all come down to me lengthening my back-swing after 40yrs.

Back from the Clinic.

ECG - OK, BP - High, but I was at the Hospital, Chest - Clear, everything OK.

BUT

To make sure, I am to undergo further Tests soon. I did ask if I could get a Prescription for three rounds a week (didn't want to be greedy), but he wouldn't give me it but took a couple of tips himself. If they work I'll never get discharged.

Anyway, clear to carry on.

Lyth, glad to hear you're ok. What's wrong with a 3/4 swing anyway?

Glad all sounds ok David.  If having a 3/4 swing means you can still play off a 3 handicap, I may have to settle for using a half swing from now on and play off 6
