Is there such a thing as too much golf?
As somone new to golf I am, as with anything else, in the first flush of exuberence. I play anywhere and everywhere at the drop of a hat and am to be found on the range with a bucket of 100 balls several times a week.
But I wonder whether at times this might do more harm than good to my progress.
Is it possible to over do it? And by extension would less but more focussed practice likely produce better results than simply hitting vast numbers of balls?
Cheers
Paddy

Practice makes perfect :-)
But needs to be worthwhile practice, not just hitting it for the sake of it...

About 5 years ago, before my kids were born. I got down to 13 hcp and I was playing 2-3 times every week weather permiting. I now think I am a better player but am playing off 15. I can only play once a week max. I would love to play every day of the week and think my hcp would tumble if I could. So I think you could not play too much golf. Wallet permitting.

I was once told practice makes permanent, not practice makes perfect.. As plenty of people will no doubt mention, lessons are the way forward and then you won't ingrain any bad habits down the range..

I get "golfed out" occaisionally. I know this is happening because I start to tire and start losing interest towards the end of a round. My scores creep up and my swing gets very "armsy". This is often at this time of year when I am trying to get evening rounds in while I can but I'm not really in the mood for it.
I generally take a week or so off and find my game improves because my concentration and interest does

i have recently played 4-5 times a week, i got golfed out, a day without golf i have found is not the end of the world, plus i didn't see a marked improvement whilst playing so much.
