Should a post be deleted .......
even though it generated 220 views and 19 replies ?
Chris Perry will delete the post "FAO Chris Perry" at noon because it questioned his judgement and because he "can"

If it contravenes house rules, then yes, but in this particular case, once in open forum, no.
Chris was correct in stating that this little disagreement would have been better for all if it was conducted under the PM system.

I've deleted to stop it turning in to a tit for tat conversation and serving no purpose.
Also if you refer to the Forum AUP naming a member in a post is against the AUP

I was only going to delete the post as the general concensus was, as stated by other members of the forums, the thread should not have been conducted on the open forum and had run it's course. The majority of replies that were not either me defending myself or the original poster were members stating that the thread should be allowed to die or be removed. I had already stated that I would be making no further comment on the thread.
I did not delete the thread at the point I said I would be deleting it as, out of courtesy, I felt it was appropriate and fair to allow the other party right of reply
Whilst I knew the thread contravened the AUP, and as such guided the poster to where his comments should have been placed, I did not delete the thread without due notice as I did not want people to think that I was deleting a thread because I didn't like what was being said or disagreed with the content. That would be abusing my 'powers' as a moderator and I'm not that kind of person.
I do not as a moderator have the ability to lock a thread and therefore had no other options.
Whilst the poster "questioned my judgement", it appears that the majority of other posters on the thread did not share his interpreration of the original post.

I think the original post was about a certain Golf shop that sells Direct pushing seemingly cheaper brands on the unsuspecting public.
I went to a similar shop in Solihull to take a look at their range of wedges. Being left handed they had very little in the way of choice (as usual). A salesman pushed a hotblade wedge in my hands and said "these are great and will really improve your short game".
What I could not comprehend was the fact that he knew nothing about the standard of golf I play (or not) or what wegde I used at the moment. When I asked if the said club was better than the new spin milled vokey next to it, he replied "nearly, but you get what you pay for". I explained I used the said Titleist wedges and yet he still continued with his pitch.

Phil
I have tried to stay out of this but find the urge to great, I have given the thread in question a great dollop of looking at Nd find that your response in the first instance flawed at best, I too got the impression you were or are a rep for Adams.
If I may I also found that your attack on the moderator in question was bang out of order, golf like most sports leads to opinionsbeing like a..e holes, everyone having one.
The thing I find most disturbing was you generalised every one who didn't agree with what you say, so to answer the question of this thread yes it should have been deleted.
One final thing to clear up, I am not the result of any inbreeding experiment, my motheris in no way related to my father ( other than marriage) and I am not married to my cousin or sister or any other female relatives!!
