Golfshake Open @ Wokefield Park May 29th

Twas looking for some jolly banter about this upcoming competition but alas I can find none - When we played Hellidon there was a comp forum but not found one for this comp. Anyway, if it isn't anywhere else - why not here.

Good to see we have 36 odd players thus far with some familiar names - still room for more by the looks.  Had a look at the course on google earth just now.  It looks fantastic on the aerial pics - lots of bunkers and water - must pack plenty of balls. Has anyone played there before and if so comments welcomed.  Anyone got a course map they can post up here.

What's the format for the stableford comp? is it off 3/4 handicaps again or was that just for Hellidon as it was also a matchplay - still don't really understand the 1/2 or 3/4 handicap business! I guess Darren will confirm all this in due course.

I should add that I'm not suggesting that all 36 actual players are not 'odd' just the number of players LOL

It's probably quiet because the Southerners fear further humiliation.

It wasn't the hills that did the south. Its just so cold and wet up north.

I'm okay with the calculation - just knowing when 1/2, 3/4 and full handicaps are used in competitions.

Full handicaps for the competition on 29th May for the individual stableford competition.

I don't think I'll be bringing home the booty with all that water even playing on full handicaps!

I'm going to put £10 on myself if it's full handicap.  Now, just got to get 74 rubbish rounds in before the 29th....

I'll have a tenner on myself for longest drive. If we can see which hole it is this time.

I played last week. 488 yd par 5, after my drive I was 130 yds from the green. Still managed a 6 though. Bloody game.

The driver is the only club I seem to be able to hit consistantly at the moment.

Still using the Wilson driver?

yeh. bought the MD one, didn't like it. went back to th wilson and it's working a treat.

This is the wilson. This is not the big drive, I took this one easy, into a headwind. Still managed 260yds

I'm supposed to be on holiday with the family in Lowestoft but have taken a day out to play.  Staying with a mate near Bracknell Mon night so not far to go Tues morning.  Looking forward to it and to see how the mighty fall

I've just had two ideas that should allow me to win this thing.

1)  I've changed my name to Marjorie and now have a handicap of 36 (at least nobody will make a rude anagram of that!)

2)  Got my new driver

Now you just have to make all the holes as big as that driver. Then you might have a chance.

If its anything like Tims, you'll be able to measure it on the ricter scale.
