Playing St Andrews with a Golfshake membership

Posted by: user216515 | Mon 9th Aug 2010 15:04 | Last Reply

Hi all,

I've got a few days booked in St Andrews (wed-sun) and am wondering if anyone has had any issues entering the ballot with just a golfshake membership, since I don't belong to a club. Do you think the handicap golfshake handicap card, and stating golfshake.com when entering would be enough to get an entry into the ballot?

Many thanks

Rob

It doesn't matter, The Old Course is a Muni.

David, that's what I thought too - but one of our party made some enquiries directly with the Old Course, and they insist that we must have a handicap certificate...so hoping the Golfshake card will suffice here?

In the year running up to an Open Championship The St Andrews Links Trust protect the Old Course but usually there is no problem.

Rob, I've just dropped you a Private Message.  This is something we are looking into.

Regards, Darren.

To get a Tee Time on the Old Course depends on how you want to approach the place and how much you want to spend.

I believe there are four options.

1. Book over 12 months in advance and you will have a guarenteed Time & Day.

2. Enter the Ballot while there.

3. Book a break at St Andrews which includes a Round on the Old Course. (Information can be found on there Web Page)

4. Book into The Old Course Hotel.

The last time I looked the Green-fee was £95.

Marc,

David has listed the various options, and I can confirm they do not take Golfshake certificates at this time - we checked before we went.

There is another way to play - queue up as a single and hope you can get in on the day, but be warned that people start queuing at around 5.30am!

The green fee at the moment is £130, but I think that's due to it being 'high' season.

Rob.
