Alignment Accuracy of all your shots
I measure the alignment accuracy of my shots by Total Distance travelled divided by Total distance left or right of target.
Then using the above figures i can calculate my consistency of accuracy by comparing the number of shots within 5% of alignment against those outside 5%. I can also determine the shots that were well off target and determine what the cause was. I prefer to calculate my alignment accuracy this way over hitting FIR & GIR as i do not take distance into account.
5% discrepancy on alignment is an acceptable amount for me at the moment. When i exceed this which i do gives me my level consistency. I am improving my level of consistency in all my shots including all shots into the green (Drives, fairway, pitches & chips). Having a repeatable pre-shot routine and getting your stance correct at address is crucial.
I initially started assessing my accuracy by having a 10% discrepancy on my alignment. and have brought this down to 5%. Playing a greater % of shots off the fairway has increased accuracy.
Playing off a level lie I am satisfied with a degree of 5% off line, i take into account Weather conditions with my assessments.
What % degree of discrepancy on alignment accuracy on your shots do any of you find acceptable, or do you not assess this part of your game so long as you get to the green.
