FIR Vs GIR
Not sure who to ask and what people would think, but does anybody think that it would be good to have a stat that gives you a GIR% when you hit a FIR?
Personally i think it would be good so that you can track how well you perform from FIR and when you are not playing from FIR.
Hard to explain but i hope you get my idea......

Is a very good idea Martin and one we have thought about.
If members are willing to fill that out on their scorecard aswell and update it on here, we can certainly have a look at putting something up.

It's already there, although you may need to be a premiuim member. It's in the "long and short game" bit of your sats and looks like this: -
Green PerformanceGreens in regulation4/18 (22.22%) GIR per FIR1/4 (25.00%) GIR Par 32/5 (40.00%)GIR Par 41/10 (10.00%)GIR Par 51/3 (33.33%)

When looking at Stats to improve ones game, it is GIR from a missed FIR that shows your ability.
Missing a Fairway is not bad a missing a Green.

Couldn't agree more Mr Lythgoe I have made plenty of birdies from missed fairways but not to many from missed greens, shows you that shots into greens whereever thay are from are more important to a good score than hitting fairways.

I realised how bad they were after I put them on Dave. Not one of my most accurate rounds but still managed to card an 83, 3 shots inside my handicap. I have been missing a lot of fairways of late but after regripping my driver this has improved.
However, compare it to this where I carded an 86 on the same course. Good FIR/GIR/G per FIR stats do not necessarily equate to a good card!

It is interesting to see how often you hit the green when you've found the fairway.
But the most important thing is to hit the green in regulation!
