But also remeber you can go into Crook Golf Club pro shop and say your thinking of new irons and they will be happy to let you demo some on the ranges.

You and me both Matt. I did likewise and bought a £250 all in set of Slazengers from JJB including bag back in 2003 ish just so I could play 4 or 5 times a year with old college friends. Didn't know squat about clubs then and knowing what I know now I'd probably opt for second hand better clubs that new cheap ones. That said it has done me now harm and I rather like the unpretensiousness about it. I'd rather play badly with cheap clubs than play badly with expensive ones and look a berk.
I saw no improvement in my game until late last year when I joined the Virtual Golf Society and got to play regularly. I have been concentrating on technique rather than power and have seen my handicap finally come off the 28 peg and it now sits at 25.8 (every decimal counts at this level).
Now my rounds are in the high 90's I splashed out last week on a cheap set of 'branded' irons - a set of Mizuno MX19's - to get the benefit of the better clubs (if any). I played in a VGS comp on Sunday at Pine Ridge with my new sticks and my old Slazy driver and was in the winning team and won the longest drive with a 275yd odd drive (see my blog for details!) so it does show, to an extent, it is not what you use but how you use it.
I'd be interested to see how good a round Tiger would have with a set of JJB Slazengers!

If you are a tall person then 2 degrees upright will suit you fine.
