Do Paul Casey and others have a point?

Posted by: user202037 [FORUM MODERATOR] | Wed 2nd Jun 2010 12:08 | Last Reply

I know Wentworth was a few weeks ago now, but a group of my friends had a long discussion over Coffee this week-end and agreed with what Paul Casey said.

For those not aware of what he said, he stated that some courses, like The West Course at Wentworth should have a status like a 'Listed Building' and no work can be done to it without permission from the Authorities. Small tweaks are OK but major changes should not be allowed to a 'Listed' course.

What do you guys think, and what courses should be listed?

Colin,

Wentworth had 150 changes done, each of the greens were taken up and re-contoured. The main talking point was the appearance of a ditch across the approach to the 18th green.

Elite Clubs charge £150-£200 for the privilage of playing their courses. You see an Open Championship and want to play that course, if you are willing to pay you can. But would you pay £200 to play a course you know nothing about?

To start a list of 'Listed Courses' like buildings.

GRADE ONE

The Old Course, St Andrews.

GRADE TWO

Prestwick

Musselburgh Old Course
