Thank you all for your kind thoughts on my 73rd birthday.
I played today with a very nice set of my persimmons and had a great day in that it is the first time I have managed to shape a ball to order with my woods, something that I could never achieve with my metal monstrosities. Hit about seven shots of a quality that I cannot remember the last time I did the same.
So, yes, I have enjoyed my day so far, tonight my wife and I are going out to dinner and I look forward to catching up with some of you as the season progresses.

Thanks, Dave. Loved the ecard.
We played a team game today, which was very interesting. 3 a side and the scoring was 1 best score for the frst six holes, then 2 scores for the next six holes and all three scores for the final three holes. We lost to the other team by 4 shots - 135 to 139. I was just over my handicap individually, but in amongst the rubbish I had about seven shots that I was more than pleased with.
I hit about five drives that were faultless for flight and sufficiently long enough for me to have a go at the green, but the usual very poor ones still crept in.
