Good game/bad game!
What a funny old game golf is!
Yesterday I had a days work with the agency, finished at 3:30pm and went for a quick 18 holes on the Priors course.
I shot 82 which is exactly my handicap plus the two buffer zone shots, so my handicap didn't change, stayed at 11.8.
The only thing was that I didn't hit one GIR the hole round.
Then I played our other course today, the Abbotts, hit six GIR's and five of those were on the front nine.
I shot my best ever score going out, a 38 on a course with an outward par of 36. The downside was that I couldn't hit a barn door on the back nine, finished with one par and numerous doubles! Ended up shooting a 48, giving a total of 86, one shot over my buffer zone so my handicap went up 0.1!
God help me if I ever start hitting GIR's on a regular basis!

Russ, well done, not hitting GIR and still managing to score ok has to be applauded.

Thanks Patrick, I'm really pleased with my short game at the moment.
Spent 90 minutes on our par 3 course just hitting 20 to 40 yard pitch shots, and it's paid dividends. Now if I miss a green or can't reach it then I pitch the ball onto the green and it's normally good enough to give me a par putt, even though it might be 20 feet.
And my putting is really good as well, been the best part of my game all my golfing life, but now I'm lagging long putts to within a couple of feet most of the time.

David, isn't it great when you can pitch/chip everything really close, and the putts drop.
Enjoy it while it lasts as it normally only happens once every blue moon!
