Skycaddie SG5

Posted by: user26342 | Thu 14th Jan 2010 11:12 | Last Reply

It was my birthday yesterday so I've some cash burning a hole in my pocket

I've currently got the Sureshot 8800 & although it is a great system the new features on the SG5, QuickVue and HoleVue have sold me on the idea of getting one.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any really good deals on the SG5 or maybe knew someone who had one but was thinking of selling it??

If When I get one I shall be selling my Sureshot so if someone wants to buy it off me send me a pm to discuss.

Thanks,

John

John,

I too was thinking of getting the SG5 having tried and borrowed one from a freind who has one, but after looking at the 2.5 and the 5 I went for the 2.5.

This is because:-

1. They both have the same features including Quick vue and hole vue.

2. I couldn't justify the extra £120 for a colour screen and slightly bigger in size.

If you still want to get a SG5 then you can find some really good prices on the net from USA at approx £190 the £40 shipping. Still cheaper than the £299 you pay for in this country.

That is how my mate purchased his.

Martin,

I didn't realise that!! You've just saved me £120. Will the USA versions function properly in the UK?

Funny really as I originally purchased a 2.5 about a year ago & swapped it for the Sureshot

What is the QuickVue & HoleVue like??

DM - Thanks very much.

Should watch out about buying Floodys GPS if I were you, for some reason it thought that the 1st at Wokefield was over 20 miles from tee to green....

Presume you all know the Skycaddie SGX is being launched at the end of this month at the Floriday PGA Golf show.

No I didn't Darren, but I do now. Thanks.

That's obviously why companies are giving away free accessories with the SG2.5 & SG5. They want to get rid of old stock before the new model.

Could pick me up a bargain?

Paul,

When I said local I meant within a 30mile radius

Don't regret is as new model has new features built into it.

I will have to pay annual fee but would have had to pay a fee soon if I kept the Sureshot so no extra costs there.

The laser's are a bit too time consuming & the hassle of having to get them out of the case etc. Golf monthly have done a good review in their latest issue reviewing all current GPS devices including Laser finders. The Skycaddie SG5 came out tops.

Cheers.
