Windy today wasn't it!

Posted by: user24437 | Sat 17th Mar 2007 22:10 | Last Reply

Up in the wilds north of Derby we played Morley Hayes today, sunny, sometimes overcast but by god it was windy.  Due to the shape of the course it appeared that the wind was in our faces on most of the holes and, for the first time with my new clubs I was getting the hang of getting them properly airborne (great day to rediscover that!).  I managed 100 which I was very pleased about on the whole, but it was really hard work.  On the 11th, an uphill 418 yarder, I hit a driver and two good 5 woods off the fairway and was still 30 yards from the green!  The 18th was even worse, it has a lake 160 yards from the tee with maybe a 220 yard carry to safety.  Didn't even reach the lake with my driver, and I really spanked it!

I can put up with rain, sleet, gloomy light, but a high wind like that just takes the biscuit.
