Handicap query

Posted by: user22661 | Fri 16th Mar 2007 12:48 | Last Reply

I took some lessons last summer to remodel my swing. Naturally my game was poor for a few months. At the time I was playing off 12. Can anyone explain why scores of 94, 97 and 100 only dented the handicap by 0.1, yet recently I posted a score of 91 with 32 points, and the handicap went down by 0.3?

Thanks

Lucien

Lucien,

Handicaps can only go up by 0.1 per round but can plummit per stroke when coming down. Darrens posted a page which explains the CONGU system, see http://www.golfscoretracker.co.uk/help/reference_hcp.php

Not sure how scoring 91 against a 12 handicap would cause your handicap to reduce by 0.3. The course SSS rating most have been mega!

If you think you your handicap went up greater than 0.1 then let me know so I can check.
