Pitchmark Repairing
This question is going to seem like I'm questioning your intelligence, I'm not, but how many of you believe your doing it right !!!!!!!
And how are you doing it ie:
1) Do you push the repairer into the ground around the mark and tease toward the centre and then tap down lightly with your putter.
2) Do you push the repairer into the ground around the edge and tease up the centre and then tap down lightly with your putter??
3) do you push the repairer into the mark and just twist it in your hand and then tap down??
4)or do you do them, if they are deep one's, but if it's only a small indentation I won't bother??
I know what i do and I believe it's correct but I've seen so many different ways I wonder how come we're not all doing the same.

Feel free to shout me down, golf hand me down information.
I do option 3 'push the repairer into the mark and just twist it in your hand' but with a slight variation on the technique. I tend to place the pitch repairer in the center, the twisting action will normally lift up the soil/green I then carefully push down the dent the dent with my thumbs.
Looking forward to hearing the results.

Great topic about which I have never given much thought (like 90% of others I guess). Having done a quick intraweb search I think I now know the answer and it ain't what I have been doing so I shall change my ways.

Option 1 is the correct way to repair a pitch mark.
I always did option 2 until I saw an article in a magazine.
The one thing I haven't seen mentioned is the pitch mark where you actually displace a little bit of grass. This should be removed from the hole and then repair the pitch mark as normal.
Repair two pitch marks on each green and we should all be playing on great greens, what a shame the idiots who say "That's what a greenkeeper is for" can't be shot!

I bought one of those Nike pitch mark repairers and they do make the job a lot easier.
Before I had a cheap little thing and it didn't work as well.
