Winter Softies!!

Posted by: user49277 | Sun 4th Mar 2007 14:52 | Last Reply

Is it just me or are ther a hell of a lot of golfers who only appear at the start of april!! I was enjoying a round a Linden Hall in northumberland this morning and was shocked to find that me and my playing partner had pretty much most of the course to ourselves.

It may have been a little bit windy and dark overhead but you would think that paying members of this and other clubs would take advantage of their courses, practice makes perfect apparently.

I shall not coplain too much as it is nice to have a round without waiting to take shots or have people screaming from behind as they try to decapitate you. I just thought with competions looming, the course would have been busier!

This is the first season I have played winter golf and I have enjoyed it.  Before this I used to play only during the summer mainly due to lack of playing partners and the guys I did get to play with only played in the summer.  This year I have played many times with the VGS and with GST and I have loved it.

Being a high handicapper and occaisonal golfer I found that playing only in the summer meant re-learning how to play and I never seemed to be improving.  Whilst I have had a couple of really foul weather games this winter I have had many more games with okay weather and my handicap has actually come down over the winter.

I shall continue playing and am hopeful that my better play this winter than last summer will translate into even better performance this summer than last..
