Wilson Staff Dx2soft

Posted by: user20126 [FORUM MODERATOR] | Sun 11th Oct 2009 23:01 | Last Reply

I fished a Wilson Staff Dx2soft golf ball out of the pond on the second hole at my golf club today.

Having finished the second hole I thought I'd change to the Wilson Staff ball to see what they were like.

I was pretty impressed with it!  Felt nice to hit and seemed to respond well around the greens.

Maybe another golf ball I'll add to my 'Will Play With' list.

I believe Chris Perry did a similar thing not so long ago and he to liked the ball. May have a go with one myself.

I did indeed find one of these and hit it as a provisional one day.  Couldn't find my first so I finished the round with it (about 12 holes).  I found I liked it so when I found out they were only £27 for two dozen  (AG but even cheaper on line) I thought it was worth giving them a go (cheaper than the Pro V1x I was using at the time).  Been using them ever since.

They are one of the softest balls I have played with, but I like that.  Wayne is right that they feel really soft off the putter face (they came came out as one of the top balls in the TG blind putter feel test) and if you normally use a harder ball it can take a little getting used to.  Considering they are marketed as a distance (cheap) ball, I think Wilson are missing a trick with these.

I'm another advocator of the DX2 Soft ball. Been using them for about 6 months now and been very impressed. Long off the tee and soft enough for me around the greens plus you can get 3 dozen for under £30 delivered at www.best4balls.com

Wayne, I like a soft ball anyway especially when I'm putting. I'm a bit heavy handed with my putter and the soft ball gives me a touch of forgiveness in this area and a nice feel off the face when putting. Can't stand the noise some balls make when you hit them. Each to their own though I suppose.

I lost a brand new shiny Pro V1x on our third hole today and I changed to a complimentary Srixon Soft feel given as a promotion for our monthly medal. Decent ball at a decent price.
