Gutted!
I was playing in our last Major competition of the year today.
Shot 84, which is my best round ever on the Abbotts course.
Deduct my club handicap of 20 and I managed a Net 64, 8 under par
When I handed my card in can you imagine how I felt when I found out the I was 2nd!!!
A good player beat me, he shot one over par for the course off a twelve handicap.

Still a great round though, Russ. You have no control on what anyone else does in a competition, so don't worry about it.

Well done on your best ever score Russ.
You can only do your best , nobody can ask anymore of you than that.

Guys, I was really pleased to finally get a decent round in during a Major competition.
As usual, I can look back and see the two penalty shots I had and the three putt on the ninth green, so the score could have been even better.
So I'll keep plugging away and it will come.
Got a really nice trophy for my runner up spot, something else for the wife to clean.
I'm on a run at the moment, won a crystal bowl a week ago when I won the Midweek Rosebowl competition with 40 points, and it was a really windy day!

Looks as though that non lesson is paying dividends, Russ. Keep it up.

Well done Russ, no doubt the handicap committee will have something to say?

Thanks, I'll try and keep plugging away.
I'm waiting to see how much I'll be dropped, but until I know what the CSS is I won't be able to work it out.
With the weather being so nice there were some very good scores put in so the CSS might be low

Stuart, the problem is that for my golfshake handicap I put in every round of golf I play.
Even the rounds where I am playing alone I put in and all the non-competitive rounds as well.
At my golf club my handicap represents my scores from their competitions.
For some reason, don't ask me why, I don't seem to play well during the competitions!
This year I went in for the Norman Plum and Jubilee Cup squads. I managed to get in the Norman Plum squad and I was a reserve for the Jubilee Cup team. Played two games in that competition.
I think that because of the experience of playing these events it's helped me to play better in my club competitions.
Found out yesterday that they have dropped me from 20 (20.1) to 18 (18.3).

The best thing about the competition games is that we won the Jubilee Cup, beating Channels GC 7 - 2 in the final at Stock Brook Manor GC.
We were DQ'd in the QF's of the Norman Plum competition when one of the members decided to caddie for one of the team only for his mobile phone to go off!
Having won the match Benton Hall GC decided to put in a complaint and it was upheld. To make matters worse they then went on to win the competition!
