You realise of course what happened the last time a challenge was issued on these forums? It resulted in the North vs South whitew... challenge! Mind you it was fun, despite the pre-match needle...

Under 50's more like Wayne, leave it to the young 'uns.Actually Alp P, there were at least 6 'Northerners' from the East Midlands, including me! I'm sure that Tims Weekday Whackers would be up for a match. Bet Tim W will turn up in this thread soon!

Tim what do you reckon, sure we could get a 3 counties challenge going. Leics, Derbys, Notts
Reply : Wed 28th Feb 2007 19:30
Tri-county challenge? Sounds interesting, I'm in for Derbys. Has any one here played Breedon Priory? That has to be the nearest course to all three (apart from Trent Lock, but I think thats mostly underwater at the moment). Not played there but have seen it and often wondered what it ws like.

I could easily get a team from the big smoke.

played breadsall priory, now thats a good course !!
hmm something tells me you guys have done this all before and i could be swimming in the deep end with some sharks !! lol

Worse than swimming with sharks Alps P, more like golfing with bandits. No names mentioned.

Sounds good, A texas scramble match, with a four ball from each county.

Danny
how does that work? I've just had a quick look and there seems to be a bit of a loose interpretation of how it's played. From what I can gather is that 4 players drive and the captain picks the best, then all four players play from that spot and the same again. Does that mean that if, say on a par 4, one of us hits the green in two we all have a put for a birdie from the same spot? Is that the same for par 3's? And is it just the best score wins? Do handicaps paly a part?

the way i heard a texas scramble works is that you have a team of four players and you get to play from the best drive thats you choose, however from the four players in your team at least four drives from each player must be used, well thats what i was told. seems all to complicated to me eg: keeping count of everyones drives, etc, also how the heck do u keep track of other teams etc..........i bet its well easy im just moaning cus ive never been part of it.....lol
please feel free to correct me if im wrong anyone about the above.
hoping to play on sunday after 5months, yeah i know.......scary isnt it !! lol

Is it now more than a 3 counties challenge
If we took the leicestershire border we could add Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Warwickshire and Cambridgeshire.

I've create a society/group for this which everyone is welcome to join. It can then be used to discuss the possible event, location, format, date, venue etc etc similar to the North v South
Obviously called County Challenge. Ideas for other names welcome
