Golf In Orlando
Hi All
I am planning to go to Orlando the next couple of months with the family including the In-Laws (both keen golfers!) and would be interested to know whether anyone here has played in Orlando and would recommend any courses?
We are staying in the Haines City/Davenport area, about 25 mins from Disney and 5 mins from Southern Dunes Golf Resort. We have looked at the Southern Dunes golf course as a possible option but any other suggestions would be most welcome.
Would likely play 6 rounds (3 rounds first week and 3 rounds second week) and I personally (don't know about the In-Laws!!) would like to play a couple of different courses.
With that, over to you guys.......

I played Panther Lake at Orange County National (around 30 minutes from Disney) while I was over there. It's part of the PGA qualifying tour and I still say it's the best course I've ever played. They also have another course, Crooked Cat, there too so you may get a deal to play both within a couple of days. I also played Disney's Magnolia (home of the Funai Classic) which was pretty good too.
Before you book anywhere, check with your accomodationa s they often can recommend a good course and may be able to get you a discount. You will also find that the price drops dramatically if you play after 2 or 3:00pm. Wherever you play, don't go into deep rough (rattlers) or too close to the water (gators)

Theo,
Two years ago I played Magnolia for $30 (incl buggy) because I teed off after 3:00pm. They paired me with another English guy whohad paid more for his rental clubs ($35) than he had for his game of golf! The key is to play from mid-afternoon onwards (more risk of a thunderstorm means the locals don't play then so much cheaper) and to see if the hotel complex ou are staying in has any deals they can get you. I played Orange County for $55, which included buggy, two bottles of water (in a coolbox full of ice!), a glove and a cap.
