Baby on the way and I need help please....
Hello Guys,
I need a little bit of advice....
I am going to be a dad in August ![]()
But the problem I have is that my wifey has advised me to get as much golf in now until August, because when August comes she said 'no more golf'.
When we went for the scan last week, I shouted out 'look the baby is practicing his swing!!'....at this point I am sure my wife wanted to disapear into a black hole! The midwife just looked at me...god knows what she was thinking!
So...I have came up with a few options.....
1, Ditch the wife, run away with the baby and head off to Florida with my clubs!
2, Just wait till the birth and see what she says......could just be her hormones out of control at the minute!
3, Put my foot down and TELL HER thats not going to happen!
4, Get my brother who is a joiner to make me a little cart so I can attach it to my Golf trolley...reinforce the windows with perspex, need some kind of roof, if not sure I can use cleaned out dog food tin as a helmet! (would my course allow me to do this???)
So guys need your help on this one.....any suggestions???

Option 3 all the way.

Worry about option2, won't be long before she suggests you shouldn't play golf before the baby's born. Too far from home, takes too long etc etc
Congratulations by the way.

We are expecting our first baby on June 18th and our society is due to go away for the first weekend in July. I thought, I will be on paternity leave - that did not go down well.
I love option 4 though! My Mrs even suggested one of those front carrier things for the little chap. Golf bag on my back, baby on the front.! May have to adjust my swing though! ha ha
To be fair though, she did do a budget plan for when she goes part-time in January and has budgeted me 60 a month for green fees. Thats why I married her!!
Congratulations by the way!

Option 6. Cave in and give up any ideas of a social life for the next 10 years just for a bit of peace and quiet. Then spend the nest 10 trying to squeeze a few holes in in between taxi duty. Option 7. Do as option 1 but don't take the baby. PS Congratulations, happiest days of your life (aargh).

Oh yes. Congrats Andrew. If its a boy, do as I do. Buy the little fella a set of clubs, and take him with you every now and then, to give the misses a break. Scores loads of brownie points. Been taking my oldest since he was about 2 years old. I take him to a nice par 3 course. He's almost ready for a full 1 now.

What do I mean if its a boy?
Makes me sound a bit Victorian, sorry if I caused offence there, its early.
You can do the same as above with a girl too. I only have 2 boys so have little experience, with teaching girls golf.

Have no experience with boys, but my daughter (15 now) got into horses at an early age and now I've nothing better to do but to play golf at the weekends. My wife and daughter spend the majority of Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the stables so us horse widows had to find something to do. The advantage of this is that the cost of golf pales into insignificance compared to riding, even more so since we recently bought a horse. 5K for the horse, 500 for the tack, 2.5K for livery, 1500 a year for vets and shoes, 1000 for rider insurance, 25 - 50 per competetive event, etc etc......

Sometimes think it would be simpler to sit in the gutter in the rain, cover myself in horsesh*t and throw 50 notes down the drain. Glad my wife is the major breadwinner.

The wife loves the time we spend together at the range or on the course. I like it too.http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y104/branty1uk/JimbosBogeyhole.jpg" alt="" alignment="" border="" hspace="" vspace="">This is my boy playing on holiday last summer. He ain't no tiger woods, but we have a load of fun together, and that's what its all about.
Saying that, he got a genuine 5 on that 330 yard par 4, Cleobury Mortimer golf course.
Soon the 2 year old will join us. I think he might be a better player than both of us, he just loves hitting golf balls

Firstly congrats on the baby !!
secondly options 1& 3 look the most promising, the kids arriving is what prompted me to start playing golf in the first place, something to do with "having some personal space"

Absolutely Martyn. Golf is definately the next best thing to a "lie in" cause Andrew wont be getting any of those for a while.
Congrats on the news Andrew
