Equalled best ever round yesterday.

Posted by: user41192 | Sat 11th Jul 2009 10:06 | Last Reply

Had an 82 and being it the 2nd time with new clubs I feel very positive looking forward.

One thing that does bug me though and I cant seem to get out of the habit is rather than being sensible on the par 5's I always try to go for it with a long iron or wood which generally lands me in a spot of bother. If only I can have a bit of course management but its the heart ruling against the head on that one!

You are very lucky, John, that you have the power available to you to reach the par fives in two.

I too shot a 10 over par 82 on Thursday in our Seniors roll-up but three sixes on the four par fives was the best I could manage. I cannot get to a 565 yard hole in three shots especially when I have to negotiate ditches as well.

I dont mean every par 5 John, but 2 of the par5's on the course I play are reachable in 2 if you hit a decent drive. I really need to pitch up to around 100 yd mark and then take it from there but as I say, course management is not my strongest point.
