How to setup your own golf society/group

Posted by: user8 [FORUM MODERATOR] | Tue 23rd Jan 2007 22:19 | Last Reply

The following information will hopefully explain how the Golf society management system works.

Step 1
First of all access the golf society system from the societies link, this will allow you to view and join existing GST public golf groups or start your own golf society/group.

Step 2
When you setup your golf society you can specify whether you will allow other Golfscoretracker users to see that is exists and request to join.  This is done by setting the Type to 'GST Public'

The checkbox below also allows you to set full read only access to any GST or non GST user.  This will then create your own Golf Society pages which anyone can access and view members, view results, competitions and leaderboards, all without logging into the Golfscoretracker site.

Step 3
The site home pages provides a quick overview of the latest competition results, society leaderboard, courses played as well as a society message board and link to the society blog/news.

The administrator also gets access some admin only functions which allow the following :

  • Society Competition Creation using the Golfscoretracker Golf Competition System
  • Society administration functions
  • Society user administration functions
Society members will be able to access the following standard society features :
  • Society members
  • Society competitions and competition results
  • Society leaderboard

Step 4
The Society, User and Leaderboard administration allows the administrator to control the society.  From here they can :
  • Edit the Society settings in terms of settings for public access, home page text etc
  • Add Society news/golf blog information (can be used for Competition round up)
  • Leaderboard creation, this allows for seasonal or individual leaderboards and feeds into the Golf Competition system
  • Ability to send a PM to all Society members
  • Access link to Society membership management
  • Society Managed accounts
Society managed accounts allow you to setup additional accounts for people who may not want to create a Golfscoretracker account.  The administrator can then control and manage these accounts from within their own single account which can also easily be added to Society Golf Competitions using the competition system.  The system will then track handicap, results etc

For more information on the multiple account management see this link for the help guide.

Step 5
Finally the request to join your group or the link in the step 4 image entitled 'Society Request Management Admin', allows you to manage any requests you may have to join your society.  It also allows you to search and send requests to existing Golfscoretracker members to join your golf society.
