do you play better golf when your under pressure(like in a tornament) or when your relaxed(in a freindly game)

I enjoy both sides of the coin. Sometimes in a friendly I don't concentrate enough but likewise in a comp I can concentrate too much. Trying to get the balance right is the hard thing.

Paul, come over and find me as I'm playing at Mardyke Valley as well.

They do have a bit of rough ground that they use as a driving range so I'll be getting there early.

I think i strike the ball and play better golf when people are watching me play although not necessarily in compitition, eg playing golf yesterday with my partner we were playing through a group of four on a par five, hit my second to four foot out of the rough and sunk it for an eagle and everybody was applauding much to my embarrassment.(their was another group watching aswell). On the next with the same people watching i put a 7 iron to 10 feet and holed it again for a birdie(applause agian).

Anyway the very next hole (nobody watching) par four stuck my tee shot about an inch behind a tree had to chip sideways. A club too many for my next shot and down the enbankment, ended with a double bogie six. Don't know if that was down to my concentration, but interesting, just might have been the adrenaline.

No one was watching though

I'm much like John Flood. The balance is the key. Too much pressure (most of the time self imposed) manifests itself in a myriad of problems in all aspects of my game and it becomes unenjoyable and then intolerable. I try to convince myself 'it's just a game but does that work? does it ****.

I focus more in comps but can play equally bad in any game really...

I play better when I'm on my own, as obviously there is no pressure on me to perform!

During a tournament I do enjoy the pressure of the game, but as to it helping my game, I don't know!
