Rain, Rain, Go Away
Apologies for the triple post!
I went out and shot 103 on Saturday at my local course (Kirtlington in Oxon) despite the worst weather conditions I had ever played in. Nothing but relentless rain onto an already sodden course. It could have been so much better without the swampy fairways, bunkers that are now lakes and greens with enough standing water to be classified as ornamental water features.
Is it worth ploughing on (literally on some holes) or taking a two week break to allow the wet weather to cease and the course to dry out?
My pro
suggested playing through the winter to hone my skills and says that when the
courses firm up and the sun returns, the benefits to my game would be immediate
and noticeable and generally I agree, but when you need a boat instead of a
trolly, and have to take half swings on the 18th because the clubs
are too wet to grip properly, maybe its time to have your own little winter
break.
What are your wet/bad weather thoughts and strategies? If you take time off in an improving run of form, will you regret it?

I generally spend more time at the range when the weather is like this.

Do crack heads and alcholics stop for the rain? then neither shall we.

Played 'The Shropshire' on Saturday and got soaked. It rained the whole way round and I felt it affected all parts of my game. I was still pleased with 103 though. Having only started playing since the end of August, I really have not had the experience of a gorgeous, hot sunny day.
I can't wait.I am hoping that this will stand me in good stead for the summer months. Come On The Summer!!
