Shredding the ball

Posted by: user199058 [FORUM MODERATOR] | Fri 17th Apr 2009 23:59 | Last Reply

Hi all,

now that I seem to be hitting my irons a little better I notice that after most of my mid iron shots, the ball gets a little shredded.

Is this normal? My playing partner finds this bizzarre as he never gets this....

This happened a lot with 'Pings' Square Grooved Wedges on Balata Covered Balls, One shot and the ball was for Practice only.

What Ball and Clubs are doing this for you?

Many thanks for the replies.

I am using a soft ball (top flite) and recently been hitting the ball better.

Am I allowed to pick it up off the green to 'clean' the shredding?

Don't wear those Z-Balatas out that I gave you, Dennis. Pleased the striking is improving though.

Of course you can pick the ball up on the green.

Hi Dennis

Must be all those trees you hit on Thursday that is causing those shredding marks (only joking!).  I enjoyed our 2 rounds at Sherfield on Thursday...please thank Troy too, had a great day with both of you.  Must do it again soon!

Matt
