Your Club -The Cost - The Good - The Bad

Posted by: user50354 | Mon 13th Apr 2009 11:13 | Last Reply

Well, for starters - my club:

The Cost

£150.00 plus vat life membership then £4 off green fees per round making £11 per round. Then a free 18 holes every 10 rounds.

Good

2 sheltered driving ranges 2 open driving ranges 2 chipping and putting areas 1 nine hole putting area.

1 nine hole golf course

2 eighteen hole golf courses

Monthly medals plus other comps

Handicap

Hot food and drink - no drinks licence

resident pro - does lots for the kids

Good parking facilities

Bad

Very poor bunker sand - owner gets it free from local quarry

Greens could be a lot better

No club committee

No club captain

No league team

Poor golf shop

Has a muni feel about it now

Price increase for members £1 per round - dont seem a lot but thats 10% in a recession making £44 per month for 4 rounds...No increase for non members - thats a cheap disgrace penalise the member..

Rating

Facilities..............8/10......practice bunker goes towards car park...

Course.................5/10.....not the hardest with club damaging bunkers

As a once a week golfer the cost aint too bad but anyone playing twice or more per week would be better off elsewhere.

As me and Tony also play society games elsewhere each month the system works for us but if we  start playing the same course more regurlarly or wanted a handicap that travelled well we would need to move to a better course..

I do think members will leave tho because the green fees now could get you full membership elsewhere which, was not the position once over.
