Just what the doctor ordered!
Just of late I have been quite low with depression due mainly to my financial situation. A work collegue suggested we go for a game at a local par 3 course on Friday afternoon (early finish on Fridays due to overtime ban). The cost seems pultry at £9 for 18 holes, but £9 is alot when you haven't really got owt to spare. After alot of umming and arring during the week, my wife finally convinced me to go as she reckoned it would do me some good.
Well, the sun shone, the birds sang, and the afternoon was great. My friend and I played the best we had ever played. He shot a 69 and I scored 68! 1 birdie & seven pars. It was one of those days when even the bad shots didn't matter (not that there were many amazingly). I was so glad that I had gone, the money was well spent as I was on a high the whole weekend! (Sad I know).
So, am I just a saddo or does any one else get such a feeling of contentment after a great game?

There is nothing better than having a good round of golf.
And having a good round of golf is one of the reasons we keep coming back after all those bad rounds!

I know exactly what you mean. I've not been playing well recently, even struggling to break 100, and it's been getting to me a little. I've played four rounds this weekend - 18 Friday and Saturday, 36 today. The first three rounds were all on courses I know I should at leat play to my handicap on but I played badly and failed to break 100. This afternoon I played on the PGA at The Belfry, a tough course and one that I'd be happy to get round in under 100. I wasn't outstanding and had a couple of disappointing holes, but I've added up at the end of the round and carded a 92, giving me a slight handicap cut. I'm feeling better about my game and a little happier. It's amazing how one decent round can make you start enjoying it again.

The thing is Paul, that when I'm on the golf course, all of the crap thats going on in my life whether it be at work or whatever, disappears, and I think you had that too.

Absolutely, it is lovely to be able to get away from it all.
Those few hours on the course the only thing I get stressed with is the standard of my golf

you're not alone on the feeling depressed stakes mate.
£9? its better than spending it on 3 pints and talking to some ropey barmaid!
remeber this, a crap day on the golf course is still better than a good day at work!

'a crap day on the golf course is still better than a good day at work!'
Absolutely blood right, never a truer word said, excellent!
