H'cap Qualifying Rounds

Posted by: user112727 | Mon 26th Jan 2009 10:44 | Last Reply

Could someone clear up my confusion, played in a comp on Saturday and the course had 2 temp greens, and 2 winter tees, so will my round affect my handicap or not?

If there a general rule or is it up to my club secretary?

I would say that the round cannot count for handicap puprposes, but then again I could be wrong as it seems to me that the rules have changed significantly over the last decade or so that it seems that anything goes these days.

In my days handicaps could not be adjusted either way during the winter because of locvl rules etc.

My club will not touch your H/C during the winter season at all.

I've played regularly over the winter months, come what may with the weather.

I've reduced my handicap on quite a few occasions, but it's also gone up on the majority of rounds I've played.

One reason I play during the winter is to keep my swing going.  If I only played when it was nice weather then I'd loose my touch around the greens, etc.

So I'm hoping that come the better weather I will be able to improve more often than I have a bad round.
