A good deal?
Decided I wanted a GW as there is too much gap between my PW and SW.
Managed to get hold of a Titleist Vokey 52degree from a local course' pro shop 2 mnths old for £35 in good nick.
Have I been ripped off or found a bargain?

Just need to get rid of my crappie 64degree Dunlop for a good 60degree.

Paul , I can alter your 60* to 58* if you wish.
What wedges are you or proposing to carry?
And thats a good price for a 2 month old vokey.

Why dont you just carry a 56' sand wedge and keep the 60' too Paul?

Your right to think 4* between wedges if you are going to carry 3.
My advise to you would be to drop the 52* and 60* and get yourself a good 56* with 10* bounce minimum. You would be amazed how versatile you can become by just using one wedge. It's all marketing BS we need all these wedges, my wedge game has been improving since I dropped them.
Step in JP.

So you are asking me to put my foot in it then, Dave. I now carry four wedges and the reason why, is Ithat have lost a tremendous amount of confidence in the many shots that I used to have in my repertoire when I only carried the nomal PW and SW.
I also developed a shanking habit when playing the half shots with the wedges, so I now need the four to cover all my inefficiencies. They all have their various uses and they are now the strength of my game.

I used to carry PW, GW, SW (56) and LW (60). When I changed my irons I lost the GW for a 3 iron and really missed it as it was my club of choice from 80 yards in and the 10* gap was too much for me. I was also only using the LW once every 3 games. So I got rid of the SW and LW and got a 52* GW and a 58* SW. I find that these give me the full spectrum and the only time I feel between clubs is between the PW and GW.
If you're interested, I tried loads of different wedges and ended up going for the Cleveland CG14. Second choice was the Pings. Didn't like the TaylorMades (sorry Paul!) and hated the Vokey's (why is that baying crowd carrying pitchforks and torches gathering outside my house?)

No, you haven't put your foot in it John, actually the opposite the difference being that you have and are renowned for your excellent short game,You also understand trajectory ,roll out, spin control and have a full understanding of the shots you are about to play.
My thoughts are with those who are learning the game/ short game, having to many wedges it takes away your imagination and I feel hampers you in the long run, unless you can spend hours and hours dialling them in or have bucket loads of natural talent. One of the main reason a lot of us have poor short games is that we learn from tee to green and I honestly think it should be the other way around.
I'm saying this from personal experience as I always thought another wedge was going to be Nivarva as I have for years tried to play with 4 wedges. I feel of late that my wedges have become more of a friend than enemy , I carry the PW,52 and 56 but I rarely play the 52.Playing with 1/2 wedges make you learn about trajectory and feel and that is so important IMO.

I understand what you are saying, Dave, and you also appreciate that a ball does not have to be lofted to get it to stop. I have no doubt that the sharper leading edges of the marus are making one hell of a difference to your pitching now.

i carry 4 wedges 46(pw)50(gw)56(sw) and a 60(lw) only use my gw and sw for full shots lw for flops over bunkers etc and do all my chipping with the pw.i feel like you guys have already said if you have big gaps in yardage between wedges you tend to be hitting half and 3 quarter shots and not as much height.i prefer to hit a full controlled shot, but like most things in golf its each to there own.

Dave,
I'm with you, I have learnt to play a variety of shots using just PW & SW. I put my game improving & distance control down to this.
John.
