I believe the general jist is that with lake balls you will not have the consistancy and distance / accuracy of new balls.

Personally, I use them..

I think with lake balls, it really depends on how long they were in the water for.

It depends on the standard of your golf!

If you are a very good golfer then you would probably not want to use lake balls because you would be unsure of the quality of them.

But for most of us average/poor golfers (I'll let you decide which one you are) it probably wouldn't matter.

For competitions I'd say go with a new ball and use the lake balls for your friendly rounds.

All the balls I use at the moment are the golf balls that I have found on the golf course, be it in a pond (majority of them) or in the rough.

I keep the better looking ones for my competitions and use the rest for my other rounds.

I cant see it making much difference but then my handicap is not near single figures

I can hit a brand new golf ball just as badly as I can hit a ball that has been in a pond/lake for a year!   lol

Some of the balls I pull out of the ponds on my two courses probably haven't been in there for more than an hour.

American golf sell them quite cheap as well.

£10 for 50 and likewise they are in good nick!
