Happy, Bewildered and Confused
I've just experienced a happy but weird end to my golfing year. I started the year beginning to break 100 on a regular basis. In March I changed a couple of clubs in my bag and switched my membership to a more challenging course. Accordingly my scores went backwards a little but by mid summer I was shooting quite a few sub 100 rounds including a 95.
However both my game and my scores slipped a little over the autumn and for most of the last six months I have struggled to break 100. The week before Xmas I played three rounds on my home course and my form transformed shooting 98, 93 and 95. I happily entered and handicap tracked these rounds and my handicap dropped.
I then had a 10 day break from golf and went away for Xmas to visit family. On the last day of the trip I played my annual game against my brother in law. I was hoping to emmulate the scores of two weeks ago and things were looking good having gone out in 45. I followed this with an almost flawless 9 holes shooting 39 for a 84 total. it took almost 24 hours before I stopped smiling.
Now we come to the confused bit. Although it was a remarkable score for me its not quite as good as it looks. The course we played was par 69 SSS 67. Added to this we played on winter greens 9 of which were in front of the proper greens probably knocking 250 - 300 yds off the course yardage. I would like people's advice on what I should do about handicap tracking this round. It is obviously the best round I've ever played and my handicap should be reduced but there is no way I have impoved about 10 shots in three weeks which is what will happen if I input it under the yellow tees for that course.

Just realised the end of this post asks the same question as mine....hopefully some people can shed some light.

You can only play what is put in front of you. Track it in the normal way.

I have decided not to track the round. If I have improved I will shoot more low scores on proper course set ups and my handicap will be reduced. At the moment I don't intend to enter a comp until the one at the Belfry in March and I should be able to track another 15 rounds before then. Would have been more of a dilemma if I was entering a comp next week though.
