H/C issed seems low???
I put my 3rd scoring H/C card in at my club on Saturday, Rounds of 114, 105 and 96. Par is 70 btw.
I was expecting somewhere around 26 - 28 H/C but I was given 19.5. Does this seem low to you too? I'm not bothered in the slightest, just think it seems high.

It depends on how you got the scores, Stephen, as they do not count anything over a double bogey.
19.5 should really concentrate the mind though.

That makes more sense then, As the 96 involved 6 Par's and 1 Birdie.
Cheers for clearing that up!

6 pars and 1 birdie!!!!!!, I would have given you 10 handicap Stephen, because that is what you really are.
Looks like another candidate for 44 points very shortly.

Never heard of that word, Wayne.

John, Wayne (lol)
wayne, my driving was pretty shocking on Saturday - only hit 6 fairways! And only one went really far.
I think i am trying to focus on too many things to do correctly instead of doing what comes naturally.
john, I can par one hole then get a triple bogie the next - I am yet to put together a round without a bad spell of 6 or more holes. and the birdie was just a short par 4 that left me 50 yds after the tee. I wish i was as good as a 10 H/C

And as for the bandito thing, I will be putting in every card i score.

"And as for the bandito thing, I will be putting in every card i score"
Exactly the right thing to do Stephen. There will be few accusations after half a dozen cards are in. And unlike Santo who is frightened to enter the first one he had with his Wishons......

I am no where near a 19.5 player in my opinion, with the course fully open on normal greens, my best is 95.
two weeks ago I was playing the best i ever have, this weekend I was appauling, lost count of skied and scuffed drives.

One-off or not Santo, you scored it,you enter it. It would be dishonest not too......

Wayne,
If you only scored 33 points it shouldn't effect your handicap? Unless there's something you wanna hide for the Algarve?
John.

Stephen can you access the tools link and then handicap tools and finally use the recalculate handicap option.
This should sort out any system anomalies.
Regards, Darren.

Just gonna take longer to see it coming down now, would have been nice to see 1 or 2 shots coming off every few weeks, as it'd give the impression of steady improvement.
Had a quick free lesson with someone different yesterday and he has pointed a few things out i need to work on too, I was closing the face at irregular places on the downswing causing inconsistency, and i had the club face close at address too.
will do that now darren.

Stepehen I have already pointed out that your clubface was closed at the top of your swing, but you were adamant that you opened it immediately on the downswing.
You cannot see what you are doing yourself, that is why outside help is always needed. It seems that convincing you will be the major problem. Good luck anyway.

I knew it was closed at the top, like you said.
But i opened it straight away and closed it again at irregular times in the downswing, It needs some work like you say - i know it does. It can only help my consistency to iron these problems out.
I even had it closed at address, so thats closed to open to closed, then open and closed again! all over the place in other words

We all would like to see our handicap come down 1 or 2 shots every few weeks Stephen. When I first started playing I said I wanted to be down to 18 after 12 months and into single figures after two years. Didn't seem that hard at the time as when you first start you can see improvements all the time, but realistically I never had a chance.
Set yourself realistic targets or you will start to get frustrated. Take the average number of games you play each week (that's proper 18 hole rounds), multiply it by two and that's the number of shots you should be aiming to take off your handicap in 2009. Any more than that and you are setting yourself an unrealistic target you will more than likely fail to achieve and you will feel like you are going backwards.

I know what you mean chris.
I expected to start at about 28 and get down to 22 - 24 after a few months, then tail off and get maybe 4 a year off (which matches your guide)
Just see how i go, Its all about enjoying yorself at the end of the day isn't it! - I'm just naturally an over competative person :-(
