First Tee Position

Is the first tee at your golf club near the pro shop or miles away?

I was just wondering because my club (Stapleford Abbotts) has the first tee about a good 4 iron from the pro shop (hitting in a straight line), but walking I'd say it's about 250 yards. (big dogleg around the 18th green)

Play the Priors then Russ, a better course than the Abbotts anyday.

John I like both courses, but of the two I'd prefer to play the Abbotts.

I normally play around six rounds on the Abbotts then for a change I'll play the next two or three rounds on the Priors.

Which is the one that backs onto the M25?

The both do at some point, Danny, but the one you can see clearly is the "Priors".

Danny the one you can see the best from the M25, as John has said, is the Priors, you can see an island green and a par three hole.

As you driver further round, from the Dartford crossing you get to see one green of the Abbotts course.

This is a par four hole, but it's a 'U' bend hole, not a dogleg! It's 336 yards from the tee but the big hitters can go for the green by cutting across the corner, but it is OOB's so they have to make sure they can get there.

If there is no wind I take a five iron, which I hit 170 yards. Then I take a PW or nine iron and cut the corner onto the green. I think I've hit four birdies on this hole so it's one of my favourite holes.

Both courses are good, but I prefer the Abbotts as it's harder than the Priors. The Priors is open and if you hit a bad shot you can normally hit your ball back towards your green. On the Abbotts there is OOB's along eight holes and plenty of water.

Then it's the abbots I've played. I remeber that hole.
