Posted by: user112040 | Mon 1st Dec 2008 08:55 | Last Reply

Winter is most definitely hereSo what good deals are you getting at the moment????

Here's one for you: Play the P.G.A. National on any week day after 11:00 for £15(twilight).

Lets use the winter to our advantage and let us all know where there is dirt cheap, but quality golf to be had!!

Risebridge GC in Romford have a weekend round of golf at £15 and this includes a bacon butty.

The course is a good test but does tend to get a bit boggy if it rains for too long.

Wayne, Risebridge GC will have changed sinced you last played.

All the buildings between the car park and the cafe/pro shop have been knocked down and that area is now the main car park.

The course has changed a bit as well.

Around the edges of the course they have built grass banks about 40ft high.  They have also put some of these banks between holes.

What they are doing is making money!  The Olympic site is digging up a load of dirt and they need somewhere to put it, so it's being put on the course and then covered with top soil.  If they put some bushes and trees on the banks then they should look good when settled in.  At the moment they are too artificial.

They have put some land drains in so the drainage is much better than when I first played here some ten years ago.

Close House is £10 a round through the winter with a member or £15 guest. Its normally £35.

Great place to join if you are slightly younger as under 25's only pay £275 a year for membership! - i'll get one year from it!
