Shaft description????

Posted by: user120029 | Sat 11th Oct 2008 12:13 | Last Reply

Hi there- Just wondering if some light could be shed on the following---

Mizuno regular flex super lite shafts.  What does the super lite shaft mean is relation to how it would affect the users swing, trajectory, etc or does it mean how it sounds and it is as simple as the shaft is lighter??? My last irons where regular flex and am now concerned that the super lite will affect my game. Any help grately appreciated.Regards Mark

As well as different flexes, shafts comein different weights.  This affects the ballance of the club as the head to shaft ratio is different.  A lighter shaft means the head is heavier in proportion, moving the centre of gravity closer to the head and promoting a smoother swing.  This typically favours the higher handicappers, but make sure you try them as the change in balance may not suit you.

The balance may feel a little different Mark, but that should be it.  If you are a 28 handicapper, then if anything it should help you out.  There's a phenomenal choice of shafts out there and picking the right one is a minefield.  Always try brfore you buy.

Sure you'll be fine though.  For a high handicapper, the flex is the important bit.
